Peter's work with horses, and their people, spans the globe.

Born to a family of horsemen in Tasmania, Australia,  Peter's riding started with the area Pony Club and continued to adulthood, taking him around the world and ultimately landing in Marion County Florida, the Horse Capital of the World.

Peter has an extensive FEI record on many horses.  Most of them, he produced from the ground up, several in under two years!  Perhaps the most notable of them is HJ Hampton, better known as “Henny”.

In the years leading up to, and beyond, the 2010 World Equestrian Games Peter and HJ Hampton acquired ample attention with their cross country helmet camera videos.  These videos gave viewers the opportunity to “ride” along with Peter and Henry on some of the biggest tracks in the world.  The pair finished on their dressage score for Australia in Kentucky 2010 and had the fastest show jumping of the competition!  After WEG they also went on to cont
est multiple (then) three and four star events.

Peter has competed at the highest levels around the world including the following CCI**, CCI*** and CCI**** events
  • Radnor,
  • FairHill,
  • Camino Real,
  • Luhmuhlen (Germany),
  • Gawler CCI*** (Australia),
  • Melbourne CCI*** and CCI** (Australia)
  • Naracourte CCIY** (Australia),
  • Boekelo (Holland) and
  • Rolex CCI ****
  • World Equestrian Games 2010
  • as well as winning the Intermediate Australian One-Day Event Championships.

Peter has trained with David O'Connor (2000 Olympic Gold Medalist), Dr. Matthias Baumann (Seoul Olympic Gold Medalist {Team}) , Reiner Schmerglatt (German Jumper rider/trainer), Holga Finken (German Dressage rider/trainer) and Captain Mark Phillips (former U.S. Team coach).  He is also quick to admit the horses themselves are the greatest of teachers.

Through all of the competitive successes, his greatest passion is for teaching.

Bringing a rider to better understand their horse, how they think, and why they respond to their rider brings no greater joy for Peter.

"I discovered a long time ago the more I learn about horses, the more I realize how little I really know and how much more I have to figure out. My whole riding philosophy is figuring out how to make it easy for the horse to do what you want it to do. The next step is to figure out how to make them think it is their idea to do what we want them to do."

Peter's teaching is horse, rider and science focused.  Working with the psychology of the horse, related to the biomechanics of horse and rider, Peter brings functional thinking to the "modernized" world of horses.

If you seek to learn through logical ideas geared to keep horse and rider safe at ALL levels of the sport, reach out for a lesson or clinic.
